Roger Dubuis becomes official partner of Lamborghini: New Excalibur Aventador S collection

Watches and engines are two worlds inextricably linked by the importance of time, technique and innovation. Roger Dubuis and Lamborghini, two trendsetter icons in their fields, launched their new partnership the 20^th of September, a project led by the same innovative vision.

The location have been the legendary Centro Stile Lamborghini in Sant’Agata Bolognese, Italy. Needless to say that we couldn’t absolutely miss it!

The day started with a visit of the Lamborghini factory, where we could see the two production lines of “Aventador S and Huracán”, the production line of the engines, the saddlery department where they produce seats and interiors, and in the end the Lamborghini Museum, where some of the rarest automobiles that built the reputation of the brand are displayed.

More than in a factory it felt an atelier, everything is perfectly clean and tidy, and there is almost no noise; incredible thinking that it is an assembly line… The Lamborghini production is considered one of the more avant-garde and follows the modern automotive manufacture principles of the “lean production”. The lean production is divided in operating units where specialized staff performs the several assembly operations, with utmost care, respecting the cycles “80 minutes for the Aventador S and 35 minutes for the Huracán”.

After the visit we’ve been involved in the launch of the new Roger Dubuis Excalibur Aventador S collection, a world première that unveiled the first watchmaking expression of this adrenaline-filled partnership.

The new collection encloses two models that bind noble and high-tech materials. Carbon fiber for the Aventador S “Giallo Orion” yellow, limited to 88 pieces (214’000 €), and C-SMC carbon fiber (the one used for the Lamborghini’s onboard technology) for the Aventador S “Arancione Argos” orange, limited to only 8 pieces (237’000 €).

As always the best part is hidden below the hood, even though in this case, thanks to the skeletonized parts, signature of Roger Dubuis, the new manufacture caliber Duotor is clearly visible from any angle. The new manual winding movement is inspired by the Aventador S engine and the new Huracán Super Trofeo EVO. Recalling the longitudinal shape of the Lamborghini engines, the double balance wheel with skeletonized spring is inclined at a specific angle, hold up and highlighted by their supports which are shaped like the tri-angular suspension systems.

The new Aventador S collection is water resistant up to 50 meters, and displays hours, minutes, jumping seconds and power reserve. The 45mm case is matched by a caoutchouc strap with black Rubber-Tech or Alcantara inserts, depending on the model, closed by a deployante buckle in titanium coated with black DLC.

And this is not all… for the first time in history the closing ceremony of the event happened exactly in the middle of the Aventador S production line… an unforgettable dinner and experience!
