Description
Vacheron Constantin, founded in 1755, has the title of oldest manufacture in the entire history of watchmaking. Its watchmaking art is characterised by a continuous research for excellence both on the technical and stylistic side.
The watch, in its daily elegance, perfectly reflects the values of the Swiss Maison. It’s a Vacheron Constantin ultra flat reference 6406 made between the late 1950s and early 1960s. The watch has a two-body case in 18-carat yellow gold and a distinctive knurled bezel. The 33 millimetres diameter and 8 millimetres thickness together with the domed case back give the watch a slim and elegant silhouette. The dial has a traditional silvered soleil configuration with baton hands and yellow gold applied hour markers/logo.
Inside there is the K1002 manual calibre customised and upgraded by Vacheron Constantin on a Jaeger-LeCoultre 819 base. It features the characteristic “centre seconds” and is composed of 18 jewels, a free-sprung balance wheel compensated by regulating masses (Gyromax) and the Hallmark of Geneva. It also possesses a 30-hour power reserve.
The overall conditions are excellent: the dial, case, lugs, crown and back show no obvious signs of wear and all the original hallmarks are still visible. The watch is fitted with the original alligator strap and buckle (with the iconic 18-carat yellow gold Maltese cross) and comes with the exclusive WATCH INSANITY set.
