Description
Daniel Roth established himself as an independent watchmaking pioneer when he founded his eponymous brand in 1989. Alongside innovators such as Urwerk, MB&F and Richard Mille, he laid the foundations for the growth of today’s independent and avant-garde watchmakers. With his distinctive style, fresh design and technical brilliance, Roth quickly became a legend, just as his ref. C207 has become one of the watches most prized by collectors.
The watch for sale is from 1994 and has an 18-carat yellow gold case measuring 35 mm x 38 mm, with a thickness of 8 mm. The white gold case with its double ellipse is a Roth signature which stands out from the crowd. Its bold shape, reminiscent of neither a circle, nor a square, nor an octagon, is bold yet comfortable on the wrist. The timepiece houses an automatic movement of Lemania origin that is carefully finished and visible through the transparent case back. The solid gold dial is hand-engraved and worked in ligné, while the brushed minute track ensures legibility thanks to contrasting colours and Roman numerals. The DANIEL ROTH inscription at 12 o’clock is the aesthetic signature of the master watchmaker, as are the flame-blued hands; the small seconds hand, with its classic anchor shape, is an example of Daniel Roth’s meticulous craftsmanship.
The overall condition is excellent, with the dial, case, lugs, crown and back showing no obvious signs of wear. The watch is fitted with an original leather strap with yellow gold buckle, which comes in its original case.
