Description
The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Chronograph reference 25860ST, produced from the late 1990s to the early 2000s, is an iconic model from the Swiss maison as it represents the first automatic chronograph in the Royal Oak line.
The case is made of stainless steel and measures 39 mm in diameter (with a thickness of approximately 11 mm), staying true to the original Royal Oak design. It features the signature octagonal bezel secured by eight hexagonal screws, with a meticulous interplay of polished and satin-brushed surfaces, highlighting the contrast between the brushed finish and the polished beveled edges. The screw-down crown and chronograph pushers, also in steel, seamlessly integrate into the design, ensuring a water resistance of 50 meters. The watch is completed by an integrated stainless steel bracelet with satin-brushed links and a concealed clasp.
The dial showcases the signature “Grande Tapisserie” pattern, a hallmark of the Royal Oak collection. The applied hour markers and hands are crafted in white gold with luminescent coating. The chronograph layout includes three sub-dials: the 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock, the 12-hour counter at 6 o’clock, and the small seconds at 9 o’clock. The date window is positioned between 4 and 5 o’clock.
The reference 25860ST is powered by the caliber 2385, an automatic chronograph movement based on the Frédéric Piguet 1185. This self-winding caliber operates at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour (3 Hz) and offers a power reserve of approximately 40 hours. It features a column wheel and vertical clutch, ensuring smooth and precise chronograph operation. The oscillating weight is crafted from 18-carat gold, with finishing details that reflect Audemars Piguet’s exceptional craftsmanship.
