Hermès: Arceau Squelette Smoked Dial
4 February 2020Designed by Henri d’Origny in 1978, the Arceau watch is the epitome of formal classicism tinged with singularity.
Hermès’ new Arceau Squelette comes with a 40mm round steel case, asymmetrical stirrup-shaped lugs and smoked sapphire crystal dial. Outside, in the deep black part that fades towards the transparent, we find the chapter ring of hours embellished with a pearly minuterie and silver and inclined numerals that evoke a galloping horse.
At the center, in the transparent part of the dial, emerges the soul of the Arceau Squelette, the self-winding movement with hours and minutes functions. Thanks to this transparency it’s possible to admire the bridges, the anthracite wheels and the openwork oscillating weight.
The Arceau Squelette is complemented by a black alligator strap crafted by the artisans of Hermès Horloger, as indeed are the case and dial. (Price € 6.950)
