Harry Winston: Midnight Diamond Drops Automatic

Mr Harry Winston once owned an estimated one-third of the world’s most important historic diamonds and gemstones. Among those the legendary 45.52-carat rare blue Hope diamond, acquired in 1949. This color, long at the heart of the brand, adorns the dial of the new Midnight Diamond Drops Automatic 29mm.

The scene set on the dial of the timepiece is reminiscent of a winter’s night, with 102 brilliant-cut white diamond snowflakes falling to the ground. Featuring three different-sized diamonds, the wintry canvas comes to life, as the larger diamonds take center stage and the smaller ones fall in the distance.

Rectangular indexes set with diamonds are positioned at 3 and 9 o ́clock while a spectacular emerald-cut diamond stays at 12 o’clock. Presented in a petite 29mm diameter, the 18-karat white gold case becomes the setting for this sparkling vision of nature. 64 brilliant-cut diamonds are set on the bezel and lugs and the iconic Harry Winston arch replicated by the crown.

Midnight Diamond

The Midnight Diamond Drops Automatic 29mm echoes the intense blue color of the dial with a blue alligator strap, fitted with a classic white gold ardillon buckle.

Besides showing the Maison’s ability in gem-setting and excellence in precious gemstones, the timepiece also enhance Harry Winston savoir-faire in watchmaking. In fact, while the first Midnight Diamond Drop timepiece was presented in a 39mm case with a quartz movement in 2014, the latest iteration is the smallest in the Midnight family and the first 29mm timepiece to be fitted with a mechanical automatic movement. Equipped with the latest technology, a flat silicon balance spring, this timepiece also features a 22-karat rose gold rotor and beautiful hand finishes on the movement, including circular Côtes de Genève, rhodium plating and circular graining that can be admired through the sapphire crystal caseback.
