Cartier: Révélation D’une Panthère
20 July 2018Playfulness, symbolism, watchmaking art, fantasy: all this is in Cartier’s new Révélation d’une Panthère watch.
The French house has revisited the concept of the hourglass, an allegory of the passing of time passing, imagining a watchmaking magic that reveals, in a moment, its emblematic animal: the panther.
The dimension of the game lies in the fact that time takes shape and features (those of the panther of course) with the movement of the wrist, through which it appears and disappear as desired. In fact, a slight movement is all it takes for the dial to be filled by small gold spheres that, following a masterfully orchestrated trajectory, gradually compose the motif of the panther’s face.
The Révélation d’une Panthère watch is powered by the hand-wound 430 MC calibre, water-resistant to 30 meters. The timepiece comes in three versions, all with a 37 mm case in 18K rose gold, a diamond-set bezel and pommehands with a rose gold finish. The three references are characterized by a black, green or red lacquer dial, the winding crown decorated with a perlage embellished with a diamond, an emerald or a ruby respectively and the alligator straps in the same tone as the dial with folding clasp in rose gold adorned with brilliant-cut diamonds.
