Baume & Mercier: Clifton Baumatic Perpetual Calendar

Baume & Mercier presents Clifton Baumatic Perpetual Calendar, a new creation equipped with the Calibre BM13-1975AC-1 combined with a perpetual calendar module. This movement, resistant to the main magnetic fields, offers an optimal reliability and five-day of power reserve. It also requires maintenance service once every seven years rather than three to five years recommended for a traditional watch.

By indicating the date, the day of the week, the month and the phases of the moon while automatically taking into account the variable lengths of months and the leap year cycle, the Clifton Baumatic Perpetual Calendar deserves its place among the most complex watches with this complication. It requires no date correction before March 1st, 2100, a non-leap year.

The “warm white” porcelain finish of its dial is enhanced by facetted riveted hour markers and gold-tone hour, minute and seconds hands. Three counters are reserved to the perpetual calendar: the first at 9 o’clock for the day of the week, the second at 12o’clock for the month and leap year cycle, and the third at 3 o’clock for the perpetualcalendar. The blued hands accentuate the calendar functions, and the moon phaseindication appears on the dial at 6 o’clock. To ensure better readability, the dial is protected by a domed antiglare sapphire crystal.

The 42 mm satin-finished 18K red gold case of the Clifton Baumatic Perpetual Calendar is just 12.1mm thick. The caseback is protected by a sapphire crystal that reveals the calibre’s refined finishes, such as the circular-grained bridges and the sand-blasted, snailed baseplate. The openworked, gold-plated oscillating weight is adorned with a decoration combining Côtes de Genève with snailing.

The Baume & Mercier Clifton Baumatic Perpetual Calendar is combined with a black alligator strap with curved lugs and a 18K red gold buckle. (Price €.22.000)
