Audemars Piguet: Royal Oak Frosted Gold 41mm

After launching the Royal Oak Frosted Gold in November 2016, now Audemars Piguet unveils a Limited Edition of the model, of 200 pieces with a 41mm diameter white gold case.

The main features of the model are the case and bracelet in frosted 18K white gold, the anti-reflective sapphire crystal caseback, the blue dial with “Grande Tapisserie” pattern and the Royal Oak hands with luminescent coating.

Like the other Royal Oak Frosted Gold models, this limited edition is adorned with a Florentine finish, a textured surface decoration invented several decades ago and mainly used for smaller pieces of jewellery. By beating the gold with a diamond-tipped tool it creates tiny indentations on the surface that gave the material a sparkle effect similar to that of precious stones, such as diamond dust.

This surface treatment has been applied by Audemars Piguet’s craftsmen across the entire case and bracelet of the watch without altering its clean lines, a challenge of savoir-faire. In addition, the original gradating bracelet construction also demanded a reconsidering of the execution order for the rest of the finish (polishing and satin finishing). It is therefore a very delicate alchemy to operate: nothing is added or removed, but the watch is transformed.

The limited edition Royal Oak Frosted Gold has a screw-locked crown and is water-resistant to 50 m. (€.56.800)
