Hublot: Spirit of Big Bang Yellow Sapphire

In 2017 Hublot accomplished the feat of creating large coloured sapphires. Today, after transparent, smoked black, red and blue, Hublot is inviting a new colour, yellow. To give the sapphire its solar hue, Hublot fused copper (Cu) with aluminium oxide (Al2O3). This coloured sapphire conserves all of its initial properties as the most scratch-resistant and transparent material; one of the hardest that exists. For the first time in the history of watchmaking that sapphire has been coloured yellow.

Hublot

4 blocks of yellow sapphire carved in the mass, 100 hours of work and a 3D processing to create the barrel architecture of the new Spirit of Big Bang Sapphire 42mm. A watch that is as hard and scratch-resistant as diamond (9 on the Mohs scale, versus 10 for diamond) and as light as titanium, 107 grams on the wrist. Absolute transparency dressed by the sparkle of a solar yellow that extends all the way to its natural rubber bracelet lined with the colour yellow. The unique material in contrast is the titanium, in which are made the components of the movement HUB4700, the screws of the case, the 6 H-shaped screws of the bezel and folding clasp, the crown and buttons.
