Wild Days: IWC Ingenieur Chrono Sport Edition “50th Anniversary Of Mercedes-AMG”
27 October 2017As a partner of Mercedes-AMG, IWC celebrates an important milestone with a model dedicated to the car manufacturer – the new IWC Ingenieur Chronograph Sport Edition “50th Anniversary of Mercedes-AMG”.
In fact, AMG was founded 50 years ago, precisely in 1967, by Hans Werner Aufrecht and Erhard Melcher in Grossapach.
Today, AMG (whose name is composed of the initials of the two founders and the town of origin), known for its collaboration with Mercedes-Benz aiming at the design and production of sports models of the German brand, celebrates 50 years of activity.
Given the “power” of this partnership, we took the opportunity to combine watches and cars and present you the new Ingenieur in pure “insanity” style. Many ideas came up to our minds, but, given the period, we opted for something more “fresh”… Many would have expected the classic “circuit” shooting among kerbs and crossbars but this wasn’t the idea… On the contrary, mountain passes, a Mercedes Class G63 AMG, nature and the new Ingenieur were the protagonists of our experience. A fantastic day in the company of these two jewels that we wanted to re-interpret in a “wild” style to leave you with these beautiful shots.
The new special edition of the IWC Ingenieur Chronograph Sport Edition “50th Anniversary of Mercedes-AMG” is characterized by a vintage look that recalls the first Ingenieur models of the 1950s. It comes with a 44mm titanium case, silver-plated dial with Arabic numerals, tachimeter scale, date and chronograph function for hours, minutes and seconds. This version, water-resistant to 12 bar, is equipped with a flyback function and an IWC 89361 in-house self-winding movement. Through the sapphire crystal back it is visible the magnetic field protection provided by a disc, reminiscent of the carbon AMG brakes. A black calfskin strap completes this limited edition of 250 pieces available in all IWC boutiques at a price of €. 13,300.
