The Best Insane Watches of 2016

Another “insane” year is coming to an end, and to reward all our faithful readers and followers we drew up a chart of the most extremely insane watches that has been presented in 2016.

10) Starting from number 10, the stunning Urwerk EMC Timehunter X-Ray, a skeletonized version of the first high-end mechanical watch with electronic indications.

9) At 9^th position the Ulysse Nardin Grand Deck Marine Tourbillon, inspired by classic yachts uses a high-tech nanowire around a series of winches to display the time.

8) Number 8 the Angelus U20 Ultra-Skeleton Tourbillon, where the movement is entirely visible thanks to the sapphire main plate.

7) It’s not common to see an ultra complicated movement by Panerai, that’s why we wanted to place the Radiomir 1940 Minute Repeater Carillon Tourbillon GMT at 7^th position.

6) At the 6^th place another unusual watch for an “usual” brand, the Vacheron Constantin Maître Cabinotier Retrograde Armillary Tourbillon, which features, among the rest, a two axis armillary tourbillon.

5) 5^th in chart another super complicated watch, this time from Audemars Piguet, the Royal Oak Concept Supersonnerie, developed by APRP with the precise intention to enhance the sound of the minute repeater, with an extra light titanium case.

4) We couldn’t not mention the INSANE Bovet Récital 18 The Shooting Star^®, with its hemispherical universal time and double moon phase, masterfully crafted by Bovet’s artisans, at the 4^th position.

3) First of the top three is the Greubel Forsey –Doubel Balancier. Robert Greubel and Stephen Forsey built an architectural multi layers movement, visible through a side of the dial, featuring a Double Balancier à Differential Constant.

2) At the second place the new HM6 Sapphire Vision by MB&F, not just “another version” of the crazy HM6, since movement and case are completely redesigned, to make it almost totally transparent. A true starship for the wrist.

1) Top of the chart for the Richard Mille RM 68-01 Cyril Kongo, a close collaboration between The Artist Cyril Phan (aka KONGO), the Richard Mille R&D team and Laurent Paroz, head of decoration at Renaud & Papi. The result is a completely insane and asymmetrical watch, with titanium bridges, wheels and rehaut painted by the artist.
