GPHG 2016: GRAND PRIX D’HORLOGERIE DE GENEVE

All the watchmaking art was in the spotlight this Thursday November 10th at the Théâtre du Léman in Geneva, on the occasion of the prize-giving ceremony for the 16th Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG), one of the most prestigious awards in the watch industry.

The “Aiguiile d’Or” Grand Prix – the most important price in the competition – was awarded to the Chronomètre Ferdinand Berthoud FB 1 model. Ferdinand Berthoud is an ancient watchmaking maison who was recently acquired and relaunched by Karl Friederich Scheufele, president of Chopard. Among the most “insane” awarded models, there are the Royal Oak Concept Supersonnerie by Audemars Piguet (best Mechanical Exception), and the Cat’s Eye Tourbillon with Golden Bridge by Girard-Perregaux, best Mechanical Exception for our Insanity Ladies. The international jury, composed by 27 experts (watchmakers, collectors, journalists, retailers,.. ) also honoured timepieces by Piaget, Montblanc, MB&F, TAG Heuer, Tudor, Chanel, Eberhard & Co, Fabergé and Grönefeld. The public chose to give the Public Prize to Czapek Genève, for the 33 bis Quai des Bergues.
