Meccaniche Veloci: Icon

Meccaniche Veloci, motor engineering, high speed-inspired Dna and design, with a strong sporting and technological feel. Large dimensions, with its 49mm diameter and 12mm height cases.

On paper, “everything but feminine”, I thought before visiting the MV House, the Italian-Swiss brand’s headquarters in Plan-les-Ouates, in Geneva luxury watch manufacturers district. Entering the restored industrial building, a kind of modern mechanic workshop with vintage motorbikes and car parts, reinforced my initial idea.

However, after touching and seeing the timepieces with my own eyes, presented by the Executive Chairman Cesare Cerrito, I noticed an extreme attention to the detail and a great care for the design, the finishings and the materials, which wasn’t clear in the brand’s product images. The greatest astonishement came as I tried the diamond-paved version of Meccaniche Veloci most iconic watch, called Icon, on my wrist.

I overcame my prejudices and I had to admit myself that I felt comfortable wearing the bold model, despite the large dimensions and its four dials design, reminiscent of a piston. Not to mention the high quality watchmaking, since the model features the MV 8801, the first Meccaniche Veloci movement, allowing  for  the  separate  and simultaneous  tracking  of  four different  time zones.

A new, pleasing discovery in the ladies watchmaking universe. For the motors fans, but also for those, like me, just know about the bicycles wheels – but appreciates a good “Italian-design, Swiss-made” product.
