MCT Sequential One S110

€. 30,000

A 2013 reference, this MCT Sequential One S110 has a 45 mm titanium case and uses an ingenious system for indicating the time. Four sections (at 3, 6, 9 and 12 o’clock) can each indicate three of the twelve hours of the day. The central retrograde minute hand moves on a 270° rotating and jumping register, equipped with an aperture; when the hour changes, it jumps, leaving the section marking the next hour free and visible, indicated by five rotating prisms. The MCT-S1.0 caliber is manually wound and the watch, in NOS condition with full accessories, is delivered on a leather strap with a folding clasp.

Description

Independent brand MCT watches have always stood out for their steampunk aesthetic and futuristic solutions used to indicate the time. Founded in 2007 by Denis Giguet, Manufacture Contemporaine du Temps creates timepieces with bold designs, whose technique represents the brand’s quest for innovation.

One of the most fascinating examples is the Sequential One S110, of which we present here a 2013 reference in NOS condition and with full accessories. The movement of the watch was designed by Giguet himself and governs the singular time indication on the skeleton dial, entrusted to four sections (at 3, 6, 9 and 12 o’clock) that can each indicate three of the twelve hours of the day. The central hand indicates the minutes, is retrograde and moves on a 270° rotating and jumping register, equipped with an aperture; when the hour changes, the minute register jumps, so that the opening leaves the section that marks the next hour free and visible. In each of these sections, the hour is indicated by five prisms that, rotating together, make up the number.

The watch proposed here has a 45×45 mm titanium case, with a thickness of 15.5 mm, sapphire crystal on the front with double anti-reflective treatment and on the back with treatment on the inside. It is powered by the manually wound MCT-S1.0 caliber, which operates at 18,000 vibrations/hour and has approximately 40 hours of power reserve, given the large amount of energy needed to make the minute register jump and rotate the hour prisms. The watch is completed by a black calfskin strap with contrasting stitching and a folding buckle.
