H. Moser & Cie: Vantablack Black Hands Edition

To get closer to its customers H. Moser & Cie. has decided to offer the opportunity to purchase its watches through a brand new online sales platform. With a selection of models available right now, this service has been designed as an opportunity to allow watch enthusiasts anywhere in the world to acquire a Moser timepiece, at any time of the day or night.

To celebrate the launch of this platform, H. Moser & Cie. has created three new editions with a unique aesthetic thanks to the Vantablack dial, the blackest black ever produced by artificial means.

H. Moser & Cie. Vantablack Black Hands Edition

The new edition is available in a choice of three diameters, Venturer 39mm in white gold, Venturer XL version 43mm in steel and its Endeavour Tourbillon model 42mm with black DLC-finished steel case. With neither logo nor indices, this dial is composed of carbon nanotubes that are 10,000 times finer than a human hair, aligned vertically alongside each other. When a photon hits Vantablack, this material absorbs 99.965% of the light. As our eyes need reflected light to perceive what we are looking at, Vantablack is perceived as the absence of matter, a black hole. Although it’s resistant to shocks and vibrations, Vantablack remains a material which is extremely delicate to handle. H. Moser & Cie. had to put a structure in place and develop special processes to successfully work with this material. Once behind the sapphire crystal, Vantablack is protected as if in a safe.

Amazingly, the story of these three models started as a joke. On April Fools’ Day 2019, H. Moser & Cie. posted a touched-up photo of a watch with a black dial and blackened hands on social media, with these being, of course, invisible. Faced with an avalanche of requests from interested customers and the buzz which followed, H. Moser & Cie. had to take it seriously.

The H. Moser & Cie. Vantablack Black Hands Edition is combined with a black alligator leather strap and is available immediately on the brand’s website. The Endeavor Tourbillon Vantablack Black Hands version is a limited edition of 50 pieces.
