Il HM Double Hemisphere Perpetual Moon di Arnold & Son mostra come possono essere viste le diverse fasi lunari da entrambi gli emisferi, Nord e Sud. L’orologio è parte della Royal Collection, ispirata dagli storici segnatempo realizzati nella prima parte della vita di John Arnold. Tutte le creazioni della Royal Collection dimostrano l’abilità del brand nella produzione di orologi tradizionali e nell’arte delle decorazioni classiche.

Le due parti del quadrante sono guilloché con decorazione soleil e due grandi lune tridimensionali. La cassa in oro rosa 18 carati ha un diametro di 42 mm e racchiude il movimento meccanico intergrato a carica manual A&S1512, completamente prodotto e rifinito nella manifattura Arnold & Son.

N.D.A. Movimento integrato sigifica che la complicazione non è costruita su un movimento con base-tempo + modulo posto al di sopra, ma che è stato concepito con la complicazione come parte di esso.

L’ HM Double Hemisphere Perpetual Moon è caratterizzato da una delle più accurate fasi lunari esistenti, con solo un giorno di scarto ogni 122 anni. A quel punto, con un singolo scatto del pulsante di regolazione, è possibile rimettere in sincronia le lune per altri 122 anni. La riserva di carica del calibro A&S1512 è di 90 ore, distribuite su due bariletti.

Il disco sul quale sono indicate le fasi lunari misura 29mm, e rivela due tra le più grandi lune mai prodotte in un orologio da polso, con un diamtro di 11,20mm ciascuna. Le grandi lune sono sbalorditive alla vista, vengono prima scolpite tridimensionalmente, poi incise a mano, e infine inserite nel disco. 

Regolare le fasi lunari è molto semplice, grazie ad un ingegnosa iper precisa terza fase lunare posizionata sul retro del movimento, visibile attraverso il fondello in vetro zaffiro. L’orologio è rifinito a mano come nei più alti standard di Haute Horlogerie, con ponti smussati, spigoli lucidati, decorazioni Côtes de Genève rayonnantes, e viti azzurrate a fuoco.

The HM Double Hemisphere Perpetual Moon from Arnold & Son displays the moon phases as they can be seen both from the northern and southern hemispheres respectively, all in a single watch. The watch is part of the Royal Collection, inspired by the timepieces created in the early part of John Arnold’s life. The timepieces in the Royal Collection demonstrate the brand’s prowess in traditional watchmaking and classical decorative arts.

The two parts of the dial are guilloché with sunray pattern decoration and two three-dimensional big moons. The 42 mm case is created in 18-karat red gold and houses the manufacture Arnold & Son mechanical hand-wound integrated movement (integrated means that the complication isn’t built on a base-time + module, but it’s been conceived with the complication as part of it), the calibre A&S1512.

The HM Double Hemisphere Perpetual Moon features one of the most accurate existing moon phases, with only one day’s deviation every 122 years – at which point a single push on the corrector will keep it in sync for another 122 years. The calibre is also equipped with a double barrel to yield 90 hours of power reserve.

The 29 mm moon phase disc, which runs from 10 to 2 and 4 to 8 o’clock on the dial, reveals two of the largest moons ever produced in a wristwatch – with a diameter of 11.20 mm for the moons alone. The large moons are one of the most visually stunning recreations of the moon. Three-dimensional sculptured first hand-engraved and then inserted into the disc.

The watch also has a unique easy-to-set feature thanks to the ingenious addition of a third moon phase indication installed at the back of the movement, visible through a transparent case back. Hand finishing indicative of the finest Haute Horlogerie timepieces, including manually chamfered bridges with polished edges, fine circular graining with polished edges and Côtes de Genève rayonnantes, and blued screws.
